Brief Description:

The three buildings are multi-story historical edifices located in the Beirut Central District area, at the Southern part of Al-Maarad for the first building and at the North of Place l’Etoile overlooking Al-Omari Mosque for the two other buildings.
The two buildings on lot 1154 & 200 are dated in 1930’s. They present a combination of colonial and Neo-Islamic features and motifs, continuing the formal architectural characteristics found along Al-Maarad street.
The building on lot 1155 dated in the 1950’s, presents an architectural language and characteristics found in buildings known to represent the “Modern Period”.
The scope of the project was the renovation of these buildings that were severely damaged during the civil war, and involved the following works:
- Demolishing the internal slabs and all the structural internal framing system.
- Preserving the facades of the buildings.
- Replacing all existing slabs, columns and footings by new structural framing system.
- Adding extra floors and new basements.
The scope of work included soil investigation, existing structure assessment, architectural complete design with execution drawings, structural design of the new framing system including the additional floors and basements, guidelines for the bracing and demolition processes to be taken by the Contractor during construction, specifications and Tender documents and construction work supervision.
