Narrative Description of Project
The project is part of the corridor improvement program intended to increase traffic capacity along seven main highly congested corridors entering the city of Beirut.
The grade separations consist of underpasses with double cells cut and cover tunnels. The tunnels are carrying roadways with number of lanes ranging between 2 and 4 lanes. The minimum clear width of the cells which are carrying the 2 traffic lanes roadways is 8.40 m.
All the works occur in an urban setting along highly congested corridors where special attention is given to detouring of traffic and reducing negative impacts on abutting properties. Environmental monitoring as far as required by the Health and Safety high standard regulations is strictly observed. As well, protection of cultural heritage and archaeological remains, together with social responsibility are also integrated into the project implementation.
