Narrative Description
of Project

The Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism plans to prepare guidelines for a number of cities in order to promote sustainable development. The purpose of this project is to develop master plan for cities Ranya/Hajyawa/Gwar Qorna in Sulaimaniyah province in order to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Ensure sustainable urban development of cities for 25 years to come, taking into account aspects of social, economic, environmental and cultural development.
  2. Propose the framework of land use and transportation system for the future development of urban and determine the requirements for the provision of public facilities (social infrastructure) and services (technical infrastructure) for the current cities and the region covered by the development.
  3. Determine the current areas that require immediate business planning public facilities and services.
  4. Preparation of implementation strategies of the major plans including the identification and description of the prioritization of major projects for the horizon of the next 25 years. In addition to urban systems, classification of land use and building codes to detailed plans System (ADS plans) and recommendations for institutional development.
  5. Ensure the sustainability of the transfer of knowledge through the training program that responds to the requirements of the relevant authorities in the districts and municipalities and their employees to help them understand the process of planning and implementing an effective and practical manner.

Provide relevant staff with the necessary tools and equipment for the implementation of the Master Plan and its updating.

Description of Actual Services Provided

The project covers eight specific stages as follows:

Phase 1-1: Identify the beneficiaries and participants, preparation and review of program planning

Phase 1.2: Satellite image, basic map, terrestrial network marks (Benchmark Network)

Phase 1-3: Data collection and field survey

Phase 2: Projections of future demand analysis

Phase 3: Alternatives and strategies

Stage 4: Preliminary Draft Master Plan

Stage 5: Final Strategy Master Plan

Stage 6: Implementation Strategy of the Master Plan

Phase 7: Preparation, adoption and review areas plan

Stage 8: Implementation of the action plans
