of Project

The project aims to identify the strategic policies and procedures supporting the utilization of medical technology, mainly the rationalization of government spending in the field of health services, and the optimal use of resources for the use of high-cost medical technology at their full capacity in the various health authorities in all regions of the Kingdom.

The main objectives of the project include:

  • Evaluation and development of a comprehensive inventory of high-cost medical equipment defining their utilization practices geographical distribution, classification and coding.
  • Preparation of an integrated plan for the maximum utilization of high-cost health technology, based on best practices and in light of the assessment of the current situation in the Kingdom.
  • Develop an operational plan to maximize the use of high-cost health technology; including defining the stakeholders, their roles and responsibilities, mechanisms for optimize this equipment, indicators of performance evaluation, measurement, identification of obstacles and potential risks and how to deal with them, setting appropriate systems and incentives and success factors for implementing the proposed plan.

Description of Actual Services Provided

The consultancy services include the following phases:

  1. Evaluate current status and prepare a data base for Health Technology Assets based on an inventory of high-cost medical equipment in all regions of the Kingdom, and in various sectors and agencies high-cost, using international coding to identify them.
  2. Study international best practice in healthcare technology management and propose appropriate comparable institutions.
  3. Conduct a field study and evaluate the current situation regarding the utilization of health technology planning, procurement and management processes and procedures, high-cost medical equipment, and assess the rates of utilization compared to international global rates.
  4. Design an integrated plan to improve health technology planning, procurement and management processes and procedures, and to maximize the utilization of high-cost medical equipment.
  5. Design an operational executive plan to implement the new health technology processes and procedures, maximize the utilization of high-cost medical equipment, and identify performance indicators.
  6. Design and implement five training programs on the planning, procurement and maintenance of medical equipment.
