Narrative Description of Project
El Mina is an old part of Greater Tripoli that dates back to the Phoenician era. Mina is also one of Lebanon’s oldest cities together with Byblos, Tyre and Sidon. The city has a famous seaside promenade which is known as El Mina’s Cornish that extends over 5 kilometers around the external end of the city. The city and especially its sea side attract a large number of tourists and locals seeking leisure as well as sports activities. As part of a bigger project to support economic recovery, community security and social cohesion of Lebanese communities affected by the Syrian Crisis, the UNDP decided to launch this project in order to redesign and therefore revitalize the area and make it more attractive for the people of El Mina and the surrounding areas.
